I’m from Kiev, Ukraine. I moved to Houston, Texas in 1994 and to Chicago in August 2005. Photography has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. My dad is an amateur photographer and I recall spending hours at night in the kitchen/developing studio in Kiev helping him mix chemicals and “advise” on the quality of cropping and contrast of his photographs. Some time ago I was pursuing a career in programming (worked as a programmer for 3 years) but found it impossible to sit in an office all day long and have graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with BA in Art History in the summer of 2008.
Due to my medical condition :-o of being addicted to traveling and learning my main interests in photography are people. It is of immense interest for me to see that a herder of a pastoral people in Rajasthan, India likes the shirts and hats worn by cowboys in the south of the United States and Mexico. Cultural connections and differences... I have lived in Peru, Guatemala, Ecuador, India, and United States of America (my home base) and visited Bolivia, Netherlands, and Canada.
I hope these images tickle your retina, neurons, and maybe aortas.
P.S. Why Mooo Studios, you may ask? There is a Soviet cartoon "Three from Prostokvashino." One of the characters in the cartoon is a cat, Matroskin, whose dream is to live in a village, have milk producing cow, fill all the sinks, cups and bowls with milk and drink it all day (Link to "Three from Prostokvashino."). I was named after my mom’s cat, I love living in villages, and I love fresh milk. Thus – Mooo Studios!
